About this work

This work is part of my Homo Luminous series, which revisits the Vitruvian archetype to explore what it means to be human in an age of rapidly advancing technology. Historically, the Vitruvian figure symbolised harmony between the human body and nature. In this series, I return to that image at a moment when artificial intelligence is making us reimagine our place in the Universe. The artwork is built using traditional gesso and hand-applied 12ct white gold leaf. This ancient craft requires patience, presence and precision. The surface is engraved and gilded by hand, creating subtle textures that respond to light and movement. By working with slow, traditional materials, the series contrasts the speed of digital image generation with the embodied process of making.

quote "David's work captures something rare—a conversation between color and form that speaks directly to the soul. Every piece in my collection tells a story I didn't know I needed to hear."
